Freeview+, also known as catch-up TV, is a service provided via aerial and internet that allows you to select movies and TV shows to watch. Freeview+ uses Hybrid Broadcast Broadband TV (HbbTV) technology.

 

Unlike standard Freeview, also known as free-to-air, Freeview+ lets you select TV shows and movies to watch.

 

Freeview+ availability depends on your location. Some regional areas of Australia do not have access to channels that would otherwise be available in Metro areas, such as 10Play and 7Plus. For more information, see the Freeview website.

 

Freeview+ Requirements

 

Accessing Freeview+ on your Kogan Smart TV does not require that you download an application, however, it does require the following:

 
      
    • The TV must be connected to high-speed internet and connected to digital TV via the aerial cable.
     
    • The HbbTV setting in your TV must be turned on.
      

    Turning On HbbTV

     

    To turn on HbbTV on your Kogan TV, follow these steps:

     
       
      •  Press the Settings button on your remote to open the menu.

      •  Navigate to Setting using the arrows on your remote.

      •  In the Setting menu, toggle HbbTV to "On".

      How To Use Freeview+

       

      To use Catch-Up TV, follow these steps:

       
         
        • First, simply navigate to your preferred channel.
         
        • On channels with Freeview+ support, a prompt will show in the top right of the TV. This prompt may take a few minutes to appear, so don't worry if it takes a minute to show up.

        • Press the green button to open up the Freeview+ menu, or press one of the other coloured buttons on-screen to jump to that service. Some examples of Kogan remotes and their corresponding Freeview+ access buttons are shown below.

        • Once the Freeview+ menu is open, you can select any program available and the show will begin playing on your TV. Some channels may not show the coloured prompts - in most cases, the red coloured button will access the guide. The Freeview menu is shown below.

        Connection Issues

         
           
          • Not all TVs are Freeview+ compatible. Check your listing for Freeview Plus Compatibility. 
           
          • If you are able to connect to Freeview but are having issues with the quality or speed of streaming, this may be indicative of a poor internet connection.
           
          • If you are using Wi-Fi, please use an ethernet connection instead if possible, or view our Wi-Fi Troubleshooting Steps for tips.
           
          • Freeview+ access varies depending on your location. There are some 'blackspot' areas that cannot access Freeview. Please visit the Government's MySwitch website to find out if you live in a blackspot area.  If so, you may need to access free-to-air TV via the Government's satellite service which provides Freeview to viewers in regional blackspot areas.
